The Silk Road (Eurasian Land Transport Initiative):

  1. In 2000, a strategic partnership was established between the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the Chinese Road Transport Association
  2. Distance covered by the Eurasian Land Transport Initiative: 50,000 kilometers, connecting Asia with Europe by road
  3. Huge advantages for the Eurasian landlocked countries: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan.
  4. Initiative developed by the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation (OCE)
  5. Member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO): Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan
  6. Pilot experience in 2018: a TIR transport lorry took only 13 days to travel the 7,000 km between China and Poland, passing through Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus. No impediment in the trip
  7. Estimate: 200,000 border crossings
  8. Estimation of cost reduction of the Eurasian Land Transport Initiative: 50% with respect to the Air transport
  9. 10 days less than by Rail transport
