Martin Luther King (civil disobedience based on the non-violence).

The pastor of the Baptist Church (Christianity, Protestantism), human rights' leader, and firm practitioner of the principles of Non-Violence (Ahimsa), Martin Luther King was born in the U.S. in 1929 and was assassinated in 1968.

For his struggle based on the non-violence, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, the youngest of Nobel Prizes. Today, Luther King is regarded as one of the American leaders of the Non-Violence.

Influenced by the thought of civil disobedience based on the non-violence of Henry David Thoreau and the vision of Mahatma Gandhi of the Independence process of India; he decided to base his entire struggle in non-violence. The philosophy of the Non-Violence of Leo Tolstoy also influenced on Martin Luther King.

A professor of King, who had met Gandhi recommended visiting the Gandhi family in India. In a speech at an Indian radio 1959, King said:

“In a literal sense, Mahatma Gandhi incarnates in his life certain universal principles that are inherent in the moral structure of the universe, and these principles are as ineluctable as the law of gravity.” Martin Luther King

Again, we see a Hinduism spiritual leader Gandhi (whom himself acknowledged the influence of Henry David Thoreau), inspiring a Christian spiritual leader. Gandhi has inspired others Indian Businesspeople as PhD. Hamied (Muslim).
