In 2000 was created the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR). In 2004, was adopted the Declaration on Peace and Security.

The main objective of this African Regional Organization is to promote the peace (mainly Genocide Prevention) and economic development.

The members countries of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region are Angola, Burundi, the Central African Republic, the DR Congo, Kenya, the Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

  1. Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zimbabwe are guest members of the Conference
