West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU)-U.S. Trade and Investment Framework Agreement.

The main objective of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU)-United States Trade and Investment Framework Agreement is the international trade (product and services) and investment relations development.

The WAEMU countries are Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo.

The implementation of the AGOA is also included in the agreement.

The WAEMU and the U.S. agrees to create the Trade and Investment Council.

The U.S.-WAEMU Trade and Investment Framework Agreement was signed on April 2002. Status: In force.

  1. Top U.S. export products to the WAEMU: motor vehicles, machinery, aircraft, and mineral fuels
  2. Top U.S. import for the WAEMU countries: petroleum, cocoa products, coffee, rubber, nuts, and fruits
  3. The WAEMU countries eligible for the AGOA: Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Senegal, and Togo
  4. The WAEMU countries eligible for the AGOA textile and apparel benefits: Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Senegal
