EU International Relations

The South Caucasus (Transcaucasia: Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia) is a geopolitical region situated on the border of Eastern Europe and Southwest Asia.

  1. Since 2004, the EU has become the main trading partner of each country of the South Caucasus
  2. The bilateral trade with the EU represented 30% of the total trade for Armenia (43%), Azerbaijan, and Georgia. These share of the total European Union Foreign Trade remains very low (less than 0.5% in total)
  3. The Foreign Trade between the EU and the South Caucasus countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia) has intensified since their inclusion in the European Neighborhood Policy in 2004
  4. Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia benefit from the Generalized System of Preferences (EU GSP) of the EU
  5. The Trade Relations of the EU with Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia are governed by a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement: the Black Sea Synergy
