The ceremony took place in the presence of HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel Vice Chairwoman and the Secretary-General of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation that is chaired by HRH, PhD Nahla Nasser Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairperson and PhD Khalid Almansour, Advisor to HRH.

The ceremony was also attended by HE Mr Xavier Villamayor, Vice Mayor of Tarragona's City Council, Mrs. Susana Fernández, Mrs. Nuria Bosch and Mrs. Maria Aparicio (EENI).

HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal was born in 1955; he is the grandson of two remarkable, and some ways legendary, historical figures, King Abdulaziz Alsaud, founder and first ruler of Saudi Arabia, and Riad El Solh, an iconic statesman in Lebanon's drive for the independence and its first Prime Minister.

Over the years HRH has acquired substantial interests in a variety of sectors, such as hotels, real estate, media, broadcasting, entertainment, information technology, communications, upscale fashion retailing, supermarkets, health, and education.

Within this diversified portfolio, there are investments in Saudi companies including Savola, Tasnee, Saudi Research and Marketing Group and National Air transport Services Company Limited, and two significant real estate developments in Jeddah and Riyadh.

The portfolio also includes investments in recognized International brands as Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, George V Hotel in Paris, Fairmont Raffles International Inc., Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts, Songbird Estates (Canary Wharf), Apple Inc., Time Warner, News Corp., Walt Disney, Euro Disney, PepsiCo, Procter and Gamble, Motorola, Hewlett-Packard, and Eastman Kodak, among others.

In recognition of his business and civic accomplishments, HRH Prince Alwaleed has been recipient of numerous honours and accolades from many Organizations, societies, monarchs, and heads of state. The citations accompanying these honours particularly point to his financial contributions to education, international understanding, coexistence, and victim assistance of natural disasters, as well as poor and needy, irrespective of nationality, race, or creed.

While EENI knew the business and philanthropic activities of His Royal Highness; it was a real pleasure for us to see that business, ethics and contribution to society are compatible.

Local, regional, and global investments of the Kingdom Holding Company are amazing. Saudi companies like SAVOLA or Saudi American Bank; regional investments like Kingdom Agricultural Development Company in Egypt or International investments like Citigroup, shows the vision of a leader.

The contributions of his HRH to the development of society also were a great discovery for us, in particular, their vision of “irrespective of nationality, race, or creed.”

EENI Director, Pedro Nonell, take the liberty to refer to his dictum:

“To whom much is given, from whom much is expected.”

This expresses much better than we can say here.

For all these reasons, EENI has the honor to offer to His Royal Highness the: “Master Honoris Causa.”

The prince was delighted to receive the recognition from EENI Director, Pedro Nonell.

EENI would like to express our sincere appreciation to His Royal Highness and the Saudi delegation the opportunity to participate in this meeting.

We also wish to express our gratitude to Mr Xavier Villamayor, Vice- Mayor of Tarragona's city Council.

EENI also wish to thank our Yemeni student, Najib Yahya Abdulalem Hassan, who did his thesis about the business of His Royal Highness; and our delegate for the Middle East, Mr Hazem El Sheik from Palestine.
