The main purpose of the Mexico-Nicaragua Agreement is to establish a free trade zone.

The objectives of the Free Trade Agreement between Nicaragua and Mexico are to:

  1. Promote the bilateral trade growth between Mexico and Nicaragua
  2. Eliminate the foreign trade barriers, and facilitate the movement of the export products (exports and imports)
  3. Provide a fair competition conditions affecting the trade between Nicaragua and Mexico
  4. Increase substantially the foreign direct investment opportunities
  5. Provide an adequate and efficient Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection and enforcement
  6. Set up a framework for the further cooperation between Nicaragua and Mexico; and
  7. Create an efficient procedures for the implementation and application of the Mexico-Nicaragua Free Trade Agreement, and for the dispute resolution
